Virtual Console Dreaming: The ULTRA COMBO Update

Killer Instinct Gold by Rare and Nintendo

Another fighting game has joined the battle!

Nintendo is adding Killer Instinct Gold to its Switch Online catalog and will be available to Expansion Pass subscribers starting tomorrow through the Nintendo 64 launcher.

The only history I have with Gold is staring at its cabinet longingly in various movie theater arcades. I played the hell out of the original, though. It was the pack-in game that came with my SNES. It also came with its soundtrack–which seems like a wild decision considering this was probably back in 1995. Rare has a reputation for creating some of the best music on the console (and every console they developed for, for that matter) and Killer Instinct lives up to that reputation. Even if the game isn’t your thing, at least load up the soundtrack

If you’re new to Tactical Reload, I include my wishlist for the Switch Online catalog in every Virtual Console Dreaming article. There have been no new additions since the last update. I swear, we’re going to be able to cross some of these off soon.

Am I *manifesting* or *being delusional*?
