Virtual Console Dreaming: The Luigi’s Mansion Update

Luigi’s Mansion by Nintendo and Nintendo EAD

Nintendo announced this evening they’re bringing Luigi’s Mansion to their online service just in time for Halloween.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the first game when I played it years ago but I still feel it’s one of the coolest franchises. The spooky guy in me has a soft spot for all the different ways Nintendo interprets haunted houses.

Did you know there’s a Luigi’s Mansion rail shooter? I played it at a Dave & Buster’s in 2017. I don’t remember much about it other than it being very loud and the vacuum controllers having an intense sense of feedback. You could feel the dusty coins clunk and jingle jangle down the pipe.

I don’t expect that one to be added to the catalog any time soon (can you imagine? Virtual Boy is coming–anything is possible!), but Switch 2 owners who are subscribed to the Expansion Pack will have access to Luigi’s Mansion on October 30th. Until then, we’ll be able to bump both the GameCube and 3DS versions of the soundtracks on the Nintendo music app.

Here is my wish list for the service. There have been no updates since the last Virtual Console Dreaming.

Whew! This is going to be a busy week at the site. I’ve already published the It’s a Sprint articles covering both PlayStation Plus and Game Pass departures (I get pretty sassy in the latter–it might be worth checking out). I also posted a review this afternoon and will have another up in the next couple days.

Nothing can stop me. I’m a machine–a very, very tired machine. I might also have a life update the next time I write one of these. Stay tuned!
