Virtual Console Dreaming: A Small Game Boy Update

Nintendo is adding Yoshi and Balloon Kid to the Game Boy library of the Classics Collection.

If you were to read that sentence with no context–what genre of game would you expect Yoshi to be? And how many guesses would it take for you to pick a stacking/matching puzzler? People seem legitimately excited for this one (even if there are no cookies in sight).

Balloon Kid, on the other hand, tasks you with gathering balloons in airborne obstacle courses. Think of it as a platformer where hovering has replaced jumping. The Twitter and YouTube comment sections both informed me that this is a Hello Kitty title in Japan.

These games will be available to Switch Online subscribers beginning tomorrow (2/4). Here is my wish list for the service. There have been no changes since last week’s Virtual Boy update.

The only Tactical Reload related business I have to report is I posted the first February It’s a Sprint last night (feel free to skip that one–we’re only currently scheduled to lose Madden 24). I’ve been trying to finish a couple reviews (one for an indie game–the other for the opposite of an indie game) but life keeps getting in the way. I may also have a new interview brewing–but I would expect that to go live closer to March.

Go work on your backlogs…or else…
