It’s a Sprint: Games Leaving PlayStation Plus May 2025 Edition

Resistance: Fall of Man by Insomniac Games (a PlayStation studio)

After starting the year with a focus on longer games, it’s been exhilarating getting back to shorter, rapid-fire experiences. This was the case with the titles I chose to check out from April’s PlayStation Plus departures–Tales of Kenzara: Zau (my review for this one is in progress) and Kena: Bridge of Spirits. I went into the latter nearly blind only to discover that the Jak and Daxter adjacent collectathon (they’re very different games, but they do have similar artistic styles) was a Soulslike with a side order of 3D platforming. And just like Another Crab’s Treasure, it was much more difficult than its adorable aesthetic would lead you to believe. I managed to roll credits before it left the service, which I wouldn’t say completely absolves me of the sin of “taking the easy way out” in Lies of P, but by golly I beat the Corrupted Woodsmith, and that has to mean something.

Finally, after multiple delays, here is everything scheduled to leave PlayStation Plus next month:

Just a quick reminder, Sony owns both Insomniac and Sucker Punch–they own the Resistance and inFAMOUS IPs–they have no reason to pull them (if you work for Sony and I’m wrong–reach out, I would love to get into all the nitty-gritty details about this). Until PlayStation learns to fully embrace their legacy, Game Pass will continue to be the superior subscription service (it currently isn’t even close).

Most of my free time has been spent playing Blue Prince since it was added to the library a couple weeks ago. At the time of this writing, it’s the best reviewed game of 2025, so far. Depending on how long it takes for me to find Room 46 (I’m doing my best to avoid spoilers so I literally have no idea where my 10 hours puts me), I’m planning to write my own review for it. After my first couple sittings, I can confirm it’s as incredible as everyone says–but I’ve also experienced some intense spikes of frustration along the way. It’ll be interesting to see where I land on it. It’s dominating the discussion on some of the podcasts I listen to and is already being called a Game of the Year contender.

Even if you’re not a Game Pass subscriber (Game Pass also got Blue Prince at release if you’re curious), I’d recommend checking out the companion article to this one for a small update about the future of the site.

Until then, I hope your temperatures have been mild and pollen allergies have been kind. I’ll see if I can cook up an interview or two before the next one of these updates.
