It’s a Sprint: Games Leaving Game Pass June 30th 2025 Edition

Journey to the Savage Planet by Typhoon Studios

We’re almost halfway through the year. How is your backlog looking?

It’s been pretty hectic on this end. For instance, I’ve been planning to fully commit myself to playing Tony Hawk 3 + 4 when it releases on July 10th  (I’ve never had a chance to play 4 and it’s time to do something about that)...

…then I suddenly remembered that I preordered Death Stranding 2. Could I finish it in a couple weeks? Probably, but that doesn’t seem like the ideal conditions to experience Kojima’s new masterpiece. Just like the title of the article says, it very much is a sprint.

Oh, and The Alters just landed on Game Pass.

Even at the beginning of this console generation, I remember the summer being  a prime slice of the year to sneak in a few titles that you may have previously neglected–but with the staggered AAA calendar and a ton of indies getting release dates fresh out of “E3”, those days are long gone.

At this point, calling any year a bad year for games is an insane take.

Here is everything scheduled to leave Game Pass at the end of the month:

Arcade Paradise

Metacritic Score: 75

Playtime estimate according to HowLongToBeat: 25-44 hours

SteamWorld Dig

Metacritic Score: 82

Playtime estimate according to HowLongToBeat: 5-8.5 hours

SteamWorld Dig 2

Metacritic Score: 88

Playtime estimate according to HowLongToBeat: 7.5-13.5 hours

Robin Hood - Sherwood Builders

Metacritic Score: N/A (49% user rating on HowLongToBeat)

Playtime estimate according to HowLongToBeat: 20-102 hours

Journey to the Savage Planet: Employee of the Month Edition

Metacritic Score: 74

Playtime estimate according to HowLongToBeat: 7-17 hours

My Friend Peppa Pig

Metacritic Score: N/A (50% user rating on HowLongToBeat)

Playtime estimate according to HowLongToBeat: 1-1.5 hours

I have no strong attachment to or need to play any of these–even if Peppa Pig is only an hour long. You’re better off dumping that excess time into the PlayStation Plus side of things (they’re losing some big stuff).

Just like the endless stream of releases, it’s going to be a packed couple weeks at Tactical Reload. I have a pair of interviews coming soon and my coverage of all things (and I do mean all things) Summer Game Fest continues. If you’re playing catch-up, I’ve already published impressions and analyses for half of the showcases (80+ games).

Thanks for reading! I really do appreciate it.
