It’s a Sprint: Games Leaving Game Pass July 31st 2025 Edition
Kunitsu-Gami by Capcom
My last “It’s a Sprint” was only two weeks ago but Microsoft has been busy in the interim–in the worst way possible.
On July 2nd, Microsoft laid off 9000 more employees (these layoffs were company-wide, though their various gaming divisions were affected). The full impact of these layoffs probably won’t be known for months–but for now, we do know the newest entry in the Perfect Dark franchise and Rare’s Everwild (a new IP) were cancelled.
Bummed out by the continued turmoil in the industry, I briefly considered cutting these pieces out of my schedule entirely. Ultimately I decided to keep going (you’re reading this, after all). While I’m obviously a big fan of Game Pass–the purpose of this series of articles is not to sell subscriptions. I think of myself as mostly pro consumer–Microsoft’s current policies are anti everyone (unless you really love AI–and if you fall into that category you’re not welcome here).
Here are the three titles scheduled to leave Game Pass at the end of the month.
Gigantic: Rampage Edition
Metacritic Score: 65
Playtime estimate according to HowLongToBeat: 23 hours
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess
Metacritic Score: 80
Playtime estimate according to HowLongToBeat: 16-33.5 hours
Turnip Boy Robs a Bank
Metacritic Score: 82
Playtime estimate according to HowLongToBeat: 4-6 hours
From this group, I’ll probably try Kunitsu-Gami. Capcom’s track record since 2017 is almost unmatched and its art, character, and creature designs are stunning. Plus, with my lack of RTS experience, I think it would be an interesting exercise to write about it.
We’ll see.

I apologize for the bleaker tone of this piece (I typically reserve the deepest levels of despair for my fiction). The silver lining of choosing to continue to outlive your enemies in 2025 is video games are still the best they’ve ever been.
No matter what you’re going through–keep persevering.
We’ll talk soon.
