Virtual Console Dreaming: A Three Game October Update
Mario & Wario by Nintendo and Game Freak
More Nintendo Classics added on a random Thursday while I was napping?
Sure, why not? All three of these titles will be available to Switch Online subscribers starting on October 9th.
The mascot platformer BUBSY in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind leads this batch. If you’ve ever been curious to dip your giant, bobcat toes into the Bubsy pool, this is about as low risk as you can get. Also worth noting, the franchise isn’t dead. Bubsy 4D was announced earlier this year and it looks pretty fantastic if you’re a fan of modern 3D platformers.
Say what you will about the game, the writer in me loves the audacity of the puns in that title.
We’re getting another fighting game with FATAL FURY SPECIAL (we rightfully celebrate all SNK representation at Tactical Reload). It was not an accident that they chose to feature Mai and Terry in this footage.
Lastly, for the first time in North America, we’re going to have the chance to play Mario & Wario. However, I’m getting mixed signals. The trailer states mouse controls are required, but the post from the official Nintendo Twitter account states that they’re an option on Switch 2. I suppose both of these statements CAN be true–but why would you present them this way? I guess we’ll find out tomorrow.
Off topic question–how do you feel about Super Famicom box art versus their SNES counterparts? Do you have a preference? Other than Final Fantasy VI, which one is the best?
Here are my hopes and dreams for the service. There have been no additions since the last Virtual Console Dreaming.

I recently finished making two more games in GB Studio (one for the inaugural Jamsepticeye game jam and the other just because I had an idea I really liked) and they wiped me out. I was planning to take a soft vacation to recuperate over the next couple weeks–but you’re reading this, right?
I’ve managed to fail at vacation, yet again.
Regardless, I finished playing a game for review this morning and my thoughts on it should be available to influence you by the end of Friday.
Thanks for reading! And thank you for being so understanding as I keep plugging away and stumbling around like a zombie who’s responsible for walking their dog at all hours of the night. You keep reading, I’ll keep plugging. Deal?
